We pray that you experience all God has in store for you and learn the importance of incorporating rest, silence, solitude, and time with family and good friends. We aim to help you be intentional about that as part of your walk with Jesus.   

 

We live in a time of instant access, but God speaks when we quiet our hearts enough to Eremos, which is the Greek word for a quiet or deserted place. The monks in the Middle Ages viewed an eremos as a place to encounter God and to do battle with Satan. It is in the eremos that our hearts fight through our weaknesses and find strength.  

 

In silence and solitude our souls finally come home. That's what Jesus meant by "abide," the verb of abode or home. The place of rest. We come back to our places of soul rest. To what Thomas Kelly called "the unhurried [center of] peace and power".  

 

Henri Nouwen said "without solitude it is virtually impossible to live a spiritual life". 

 

John Mark Comer writes "the solution is fairly simple: create an environment for attention and connection to God: and I know of no better place than the eremos". 

 

So, whether you need to practice silence, solitude, or living in community, our prayer is that you slow down and spend time with Him and others in delight of all that He has done for us.
